Now that we understand the paper pattern of TISS  let us dive into the preparation for TISS. English Proficiency

To do well in the English section, a student should have a good vocabulary and good reading habits.  The types of questions that appear are

  • Verbal Analogies

  • Vocabulary – antonyms and Synonyms

  • Para Jumbles

  • Reading Comprehension

If the available duration is very short – like around 45 days for TISS– one must concentrate on solving Comprehension passages almost every day. After solving questions focus on analyzing comprehension questions immediately. Similarly, for the questions on verbal analogies and synonyms and antonyms, focus on knowing a certain number of the word every day. You could refer to word lists, word books – such as that by Norman Lewis ( Word Power Made Easy) or Rosenblum  ( All About Words). Since you have less than 2 months to prepare for TISSNET – another step that you can take is to narrow down your word list to around 1000 to 1500 words and commit them to your memory. TISS 2021

Mathematics

Before you prepare for mathematics, you should know that the level of difficulty of mathematics asked in TISSNET is not anywhere near to the level of difficulty asked in CAT or similar exams. Very basic questions are asked. Focus on basics of math from the following areas – Arithmetic, Algebra, Mensuration, Number Theory, Permutations and Combinations, and Probability. Also focus on areas involving basic mathematical calculations such as BODMAS, Fractions, the addition of fractions, etc. TISS 2021

The key is ensuring your basics of mathematics are in order and you have adequate speed. Once you revise basic concepts, practice will be the key. Don’t solve unnecessarily tough questions from anywhere for mathematics

General Awareness

General awareness is the toughest section of TISSNET. In fact, this is the make or break section for most aspirants. If you do well in this section, you are most likely to get a call for the 2nd stage. This section is extremely balanced in its content and will ask questions from a variety of areas

  • Current Affairs

  • Major  Political Events

  • Modern Indian History

  • Geography and General Geology

  • Sociological Awareness

  • Economic Processes

  • Literature

  • Famous Personalities

  • Fine Arts & Music (Worldwide)
